Many employees at Osnabrück University spend their working day in front of a computer. One-sided strain and forced postures can put a lot of strain on the body. A habitual incorrect posture often results in neck or back pain. Tingling in the hands and fingers or burning eyes are also signs of physical strain. Many employees underestimate the strain on their bodies at work. Deadlines, pressure to perform and multitasking are often the norm in the workplace. This is also accompanied by an increase in mental stress. According to statistics from the Health and Work Initiative (iga), physical activity increases after just a ten-minute exercise session. Psychosocial factors such as an increase in self-efficacy and a reduction in stress are also promoted. The Pausenexpress aims to help employees at Osnabrück University to recharge their batteries with the help of an active break.
The Pausenexpress is a 15-minute exercise break for office groups of four to eight people. You will be guided by qualified trainers who will come directly to your workplace for ten weeks at a time agreed individually with you. The focus of this low-threshold programme is less on improving your physical fitness and more on strengthening communication and social interaction within the office community, reducing stress and encouraging people to enjoy exercise. Neither prior knowledge nor changing clothes are required. The use of various small pieces of equipment such as therabands, balls and brasils in individual or partner exercises ensures variety and fun.
Thanks to the support of the President's Cabinet, the Pausenexpress is free of charge once a week for university employees and is recognised as working time.
