#AKTIV! against sexualised violence
By adopting the policy against sexualised discrimination, harassment and violence, Osnabrück University makes it clear that sexualised discrimination, harassment and violence will not be tolerated under any circumstances and will be sanctioned accordingly. The scope of the policy includes all members, affiliates and visitors to university facilities and events.
University sport is a central meeting place and offers a variety of opportunities for joint sporting activities. Physicality and emotionality are elementary components of sport and also contribute to its attractiveness. At the same time, however, it is precisely these elements that increase the risk that individual boundaries may be violated or that sport may even be misused as an opportunity for abusive behaviour.
The Centre for University Sport would like to motivate all eligible participants to be active in sport and offer them a suitable framework for this. Mutual appreciation, respectful cooperation and respect for individual boundaries are key prerequisites for everyone to enjoy playing sport together. We are therefore actively committed to combating all forms of discrimination and violence.
With our prevention work, we want to help create a climate in university sports in which everyone can feel comfortable. We want to raise awareness of the topic, provide information, encourage people to look and listen and encourage them to take joint action against discrimination and sexualised violence in university sport.
Our measures
- Code of conduct: The introduction of a code of conduct is intended to help sensitise all persons working for university sports to the topic. Signing the declaration of compliance with the code of conduct is also mandatory for all our course instructors.
- Contact scale for sports programmes: With the help of acontact scale in the descriptions of our sports programmes, we would like to give all interested parties who have no idea about a particular sport an impression of the extent to which physical contact is to be expected in the respective sport.
- Qualification programmes: The ZfH's full-time employees have taken part in awareness-raising programmes. In addition, multiplier training courses were attended in order to be able to offer regular qualification measures on this topic for university sports instructors in the future.
- Thematic visibility: There are posters and flyers in the sports centre to guide those affected to the internal and external contact points and encourage them to report sexualised discrimination and violence.
- Complaints management: The University Sports Centre team is informed about the procedure in the event of complaints and acts systematically.
